Gregory Mayer, a mixed media artist, was raised and influenced by his youth in the artistic enclave of Carmel, California, shaped by the local artists, galleries, and nature. Mayer studied at the esteemed Academy of Art in San Francisco as well as Arizona State University.

Specializing in mixed media with unconventional mediums, he continues to challenge his craft and push into uncharted areas of artistic expression and what classifies as art.

Splitting his time between the sun-drenched desert landscapes of Scottsdale, Arizona, and the enchanting cobblestone streets and colors of San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, Mayer's artistry and inspiration stem from the diversity of his surroundings, cultures, and especially the differences between what is deemed “beautiful” between different cultures.

His art serves as a mirror reflecting the complexity of modern life and social norms. From a distance, his pieces exude a semblance of order and coherence, looking “Correct,” mirroring society's desire to put on a well-manicured facade. Yet, upon closer observation, the intricacies of true life unfold in both life and Mayer’s work—a symphony of imperfections, nuances, mismatched colors, and rawness. Mayer believes it is what makes his art different and important and especially relevant now in an ever-changing world influenced by social media and a handful of perfect-looking people pretending to be something they are in fact not.

In essence, Mayer's art beckons viewers to embrace the inherent beauty found within life's imperfections. It is a testament to the unyielding vitality of the human experience.
